My esteemed colleague Trevor Colman has released this video today laying out the reasons against EU membership and discussing what would happen if the UK left. It has already created a buzz in the House of Commons and in Brussels.
It's a great watch and I believe contains essential arguments that really should be publicised.

  1. What I've never understood about this whole EU debate is why its all or nothing. All we want is to be part of a free trade zone. Why cannot we just negotiate some kind of Association Agreement, like the Norwegians or Swiss have done? Its not like we're proposing to but up a Berlin Wall here, we just want a free trade organization.

  2. You make a very good point and one which the media often misses. Cooperation with the rest of Europe is vital in both international relations and trade, but the inundation of facile bureaucracy undermines both.

Totally agree with you John. Bureaucracy is killing things. I still think the Government should explore in advance - maybe via discreet conversations with the Germans? - if we could leave but just be a Norway.
